Post Halloween Clearance

rework
Never really appreciated post Halloween clearances beyond the candy, but now that I have 2 boys, scored big at Target when they dropped all the non-food clearance items to 90% off. Got a bunch of costumes for the kids to play in. Couple of animal ones and a gnome for the little one. And the older one got a bunch including a Vampire, a rocket ship, a Jedi and a knight (he didn't want the Megatron one, but to be honest, it looked kinda crappy). Plus I found a Transformers Optimus sword and Bumblebee cannon for a buck each (not the Hasbro ones... Junky costume stuff).

And then all they way in the back of the rack... An adult size Ghostbusters costume. Complete with inflatable backpack & gun. $3. Woot!

3 flaws: Megatron has a broken waist (fixable), Tab on the OP trailer is broken, and Roadbuster is missing the antenna. Other than that, 85% of these toys look like they were barely touched.

Also thrown in was a pile of action cards, stickers, stickerbook, a Listen and Read adventure book, some STARS stuff (no playset), and a copy of the 1986 4 page comic book ad from Women's Day magazine "How the Transformers Saved Christmas".

CL works the other way, too!

Went against my usual MO, and actually SOLD some toys over Craigslist today. Was a box of about 9 extra Star Wars Lego sets that I'd had sitting in my garage for a couple of years now. Ones I had bought on clearance almost a decade ago. I had taken them when I last set up at the Big Flea and the Civitan's Flea Market... But that was like 3 years ago and I didn't have plans to head back to either...

So I looked them up on Ebay and priced them somewhere in the middle of the price range of the closed auctions (Now up a few bucks from when I priced them for the Flea), and posted them up on CL with a price about 10% less if someone took them all.

48 hours later I have cash in hand and one less box to store. I think I got about 80-85% of what I would have expected to get on Ebay (after fees) and probably saved myself about 5 hours of work between posting, tracking, answering questions, packing and shipping.

Not too shabby.

Wonder what else I have that will sell....

First finds of the year

Came across a yard sale with lots of old toys, going back to the 70's. Sadly some old guy got there ahead of me and he had already snaked out most of the good stuff. He'd pretty much snagged all the Star Wars, Star Trek and any die cast stuff worth a damn.

He overlooked the Megos, though... Snagged a 12" Kiss figure, Hutch, Boss Hogg & Action Jackson. Picked up a few other tid bits... All for $10.

Why do 20-something Latino guys think it is a good idea to try and drive their Mustangs up hills after 2 feet of snow? Saw that again yesterday diving home from work....
